Hikes
There is no better way to discover the country than by feeling the ground under your feet! The satisfaction and sense of accomplishment after completing a hike will leave you revitalized and invigorated, albeit out of breath and in need of a shower. You are sure to bond with your fellow hikers as you share in the exhilaration of uncovering new vistas at every turn. Choose a hike that best suits you and your companions from these incredible options:

- Desert hikes by moonlight or in the cooler hours of the day. Experience unique beauty and wind-swept solitude in the highlands of the Negev or the pristine scenery of the Ramon Crater. If you are in luck, you may come across an ibex or the elusive desert fox. Depending on your level of fitness, you can choose a 2 hour hike, camp out in the wilderness for 2 days or anything in-between. The ISRAEL MAVEN team will ensure that you are well provided for and can arrange for a Desert Survival course – run by former IDF commandos. Most popular in this category are Ein Ovdat, Nachal Og, Nachal Perazim, Ein Saharonim, Har Tzfachot & Har Shlomo.
- Family hikes that are small on exertion but big on attraction. In general, children tire more easily than their parents – or is it the other way round (?) so these hikes are geared to keeping the younger ones entertained and happy without the older ones having to carry them on their shoulders. The hikes below are NOT stroller friendly, so be prepared if you are bringing along an infant. Most popular in this category are Ein HaShofet, Majrassa, Ein Prat, Tel Azeqa, Nachal Katlav & Ein Bokek.
Water hikes alongside a myriad of canyons, spectacular waterfalls and natural springs. Strip down to your bathing suit or plunge in fully clothed – from the headwaters of the Jordan to the ravines of the Golan you simply cannot resist the temptation of the cool clear waters. These hikes are especially popular in the summer when sweltering temperatures are a norm. In general, the water-hikes in the North are less frequented in cold weather, however, the desert oasis of Ein Gedi is a hit even in the Winter. Most popular in this category are the Yehudiya, Zavitan, Jilabun, Nachal Kziv, Nachal Hakibbutzim, Nachal David, Nachal Arugot and Wadi Kelt.- Scenic hikes looking out over breathtaking coastline, fertile valleys and ancient battlegrounds of Judges and Kings. Pick the luscious fruits of Israel such as wild berries, figs, grapes and pomegranates growing along the way. Most popular in this category are Little Switzerland in the Carmel Mountains, Mt Gilboa, Tel Dan, Hof Dor to HaBonim, Ayalon Valley & Elah Valley.
- You-gotta-be-crazy hikes – walk the entire length of Israel from Metullah to Eilat or sea-to-sea from the Mediterranean to the Kineret.
